El Shaddai Wants: The Salty And The Bright Lights Part II of III

Salt creates a thirst that only water can quench! Water bathes the cells of the body. In fact, approximately seventy [70] percent of the body consists of water. Thus, while human beings can go for long periods without food, the same is not true for water. Dehydration signals the need for water. Without sufficient water, the  body begins to suffer; and this dehydration can be manifested in a number of ways.

Water symbolizes a spiritual relationship that is essential to all those who desire to be salt.  Both salt and water are derived from the earth naturally. When one considers the  source of these natural elements ,the answer is simple.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

 God created all the food and the elements that man needs to benefit from the earth. In addition, God created man from the earth. Thus, man is earthy; and within him is salt and water..Everything points back to the earth and having a personal relationship with the Creator. Who made man to be salt of the earth? God did. Who put within him the need for water to quench his thirst? El Shaddai did. Man will always thirst like the panting deer Psalmist David speaks about   until he connects to the streams of Living Water. Creating his own broken cistern is inadequate.

El Shaddai offers man the Living Word of God and whatever else is needed to help him live a wholesome life on earth. El Shaddai  is the All Sufficient God. He provides more than enough to  meet the daily demands of the human beings on planet earth. Anyone who visits Inagua, Bahamas will discover that the salt there is piled high like crystal white mountains. Although it comes from a natural source and is a natural Bahamian resource, the company who processes it and prepares it for market is but the steward. In the same way, man is but a steward and is accountable for his stewardship.

How does one lose saltiness? Recently, during a conversation about bush medicine and salt with an elderly citizen, this writer made some observations and mental notes. The senior had  salt; but spiteful enemies had invaded the area where it was kept and polluted it. While the salt may have maintained some of its characteristics - crystal appearance, nobody wants to risk using polluted salt for household purposes.

Next, think of salt with its chemical character of sodium and chloride. Those who are familiar with the Periodic Table know that some chemicals blend well and others may provide an explosive combination. Whether one dilutes or pollutes the salt ,when salt loses the characteristics of  its elements, it has lost its saltiness.

Some people think of the Prodigal Son who had   salt [wealth, money, inheritance] and wasted it on pleasure. He left the comforts of home so that he could enjoy the pleasures of the world for a season. Today, his behavior would be considered as ‘backslidden’ because he turned away from the Father and went into a far country. He was a long way from home. Eventually, the lavish, wasteful son came to his senses, repented and returned to the Father, asking for His forgiveness. This prodigal child found favour with God because he recognized his wretched sinful condition and had a change of heart .He possessed humility and no bitterness or anger.

Salt, for a believer, indicates a process that is outside your power .You are fearfully and wondrously made according to Psalmist David. He said that you were knitted in your mother’s womb. Do you know which knitting stitches were used and whether any were dropped to form a pattern? Recently in the news, it was revealed that a woman with two wombs is pregnant with two babies who are at two different stages of development. In a similar situation, the ovum[egg] divided and instead of two babies in the double womb, there were three!

As beneficial as salt is to man, the essential fact about salt is simple. You need sodium and chloride in the right proportion. Sodium by itself will not produce what most people know as pond salt or table salt .Without  a thorough knowledge of sodium, one may be dealing with a dangerous chemical. In the same way, chloride alone cannot make salt Think chlorine and you have a substance that is used in households as bleach. With chemicals, altering one aspect can produce a different compound.

Thus, the declaration that Jesus made concerning being salt hinges on a relationship with Him.

Without me you can do nothing.

All El Shaddai requires from believers is natural behavior. Be yourself. When El Shaddai needs to interject the super to add to your natural, everybody will know as they will see the manifestation. El Shaddai wants people who are hot or cold. Salt is usually cold because you do not have to worry about burning your fingers. Be satisfied with being sodium chloride, pond salt or table salt and maintain a daily relationship with your Maker. Whether you are rock salt, coarse salt, fine salt, stored in a jar or barrel, keep your saltiness. After all, you are the salt of the earth!
